The magic of Maskcara Makeup is in it’s ability to be totally customized, and I want to give you some great tips to customize your Maskcara Makeup for summer! Maskcara 3D Foundation is glowy and fresh looking (JUST SAY NO TO MATTE!) so summertime is when Maskcara really shows off!
If you already use Maskcara makeup, here are some ways to adjust your stash to personalize your summer compact. If you’re new to Maskcara, you’re about to learn how your ENTIRE makeup collection can fit in 1 compact, and have a flawless summer glow in 5 minutes!
1. PRIME YOUR SKIN
Priming is always a good idea- it gets your skin ready for whatever makeup you’re applying. Depending on your skin type, your priming method will change.
If you have DRY skin, you’ll want to moisturize well, then give it time to soak in. Our MILK CREME is the best moisturizer I’ve ever found- just pat it on and let it absorb!
For OILY skin, skip the moisturizer before makeup, and use a primer. If you have seriously oily skin, my favorite is either DE-SLICK by Urban Decay or NYX MATTE FINISH.
For everyone else, my favorite is SMASHBOX PRIMER WATER.
2. MODIFIED SUMMER HAC
Apply your normal 4-step Highlight and Contour (HAC): Highlight color under eyes, forehead and down the nose, and everywhere a beard or mustache would grow. Contour under cheekbones, around the edges of face, below jaw, and down the sides of your nose. Cheek/Lip color on the apples of cheeks and on lips. And Illuminator on the top of your cheekbones and under brow bones.

With her perfectly dense bristles, she will give you an airbrushed finish with just the tiniest bit of makeup. I’m so so sorry to tell you, but you might be putting your 30 SECOND HAC brush into retirement after you meet Buffy. There’s a good reason why we have a hard time keeping Buffy in stock!

3. BRONZER and GLOW
This step is the key to a perfect summer glow. I used to use this REALLY expensive bronzer from Sephora. It was a great color, but after I started using Maskcara, I realized that applying a POWDER bronzer totally defeats the purpose.
The idea is to look like you’ve been in the sun- skin that has naturally tanned is not only bronzed but glowy and dewy. Not dry and powdery.
BELLA is Maskcara’s bronzer. Bella used alone is beautiful. Even her packaging is gorgeous! It is the PERFECT bronzer- never orange, and works with super pale skin and dark tones! Bella is meant to be applied with the fluffy end of the BLUSH + BRONZER BRUSH. Just tap onto the tin of BELLA, and swirl over your face.
If you want to really glow, and have that amazing golden beach-y glimmer, just pop a tin of GLOW ILLUMINATOR next to BUFFY in your compact, and tap the B-SQUARED BRUSH over both so you get a mix of GLOW and BELLA swirled over your face. GORGEOUS!!
4. GOLDEN EYES
You’ll want a lighter, neutral shade like CUPCAKE or SABRINA.
Then add in two glowy, golden midi shades, like BUBBA, GILDED, or YOU COMPLETE ME.
Finally you’ll want one darker color for smudging along your lashes as an eyeliner. I love RIGOLETTO.
The I SHADOW EVERYTHING BRUSH is perfect for applying eyeshadow and eyeliner.
Or for a super quick summer look, you can just smudge some BELLA or GLOW right on your eyelids for the perfect hint of color.
5. FINISH AND PERFECT
My favorite way to finish off summer makeup is with a light spray of PIXI GLOW MIST. Make sure you shake it up well, and you’ll get the prettiest subtle sheen. I use it all year long, but I LOVE it for summer!
Even with oily skin, I think the best summer look is NO POWDER. If you get a little TOO shiny for your liking, try some blotting papers. I keep THESE in my purse because they have a cute little dispenser case.
