Yes. You should be shaving your face. I know exactly what you’re thinking…Won’t it grow back darker and thicker?!
Nope. It won’t. Promise.
Would it make you feel better to call it exfoliating? Because that’s really what it is. It’s removing the peach fuzz and exfoliating the top layer of skin.
My favorite facial razors are TINKLES and TOUCH UPS. I’ve used them both and LOVE them!
There are hundreds of articles written on this topic, because it’s sort of a big thing in the beauty industry right now. Many people with MUCH more scientific knowledge have done the research on this, so the info is out there if you want it.
But because I love you and don’t want you to spend hours reading, I’ll just give you the quick info you need to know!
- Exfoliation is seriously CRUCIAL to great skin and beautiful makeup. Flaky face=yuk. Using a facial razor like the TINKLE or the TOUCH UP is the fastest, easiest way to remove peach fuzz and exfoliate your skin.
- Going to an Esthetician to get Dermaplaning costs quite a bit more (around $70-$100 in my neck of the woods) and uses a surgical-grade blade to do exactly the same thing- remove peach fuzz and exfoliate your facial skin. But going every two weeks or so is just not realistic for most people. That’s where the TINKLE comes in!
- Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor shaved their faces- if it’s good enough for them it’s good enough for me!
- This is why men look younger much of the time- they’re exfoliating their faces regularly by shaving. They also have thicker skin and more oil, but they are doing some SERIOUS exfoliating!
- Removing the fuzz and dead skin cells from your face with leave you with the smoothest complexion of your life. Your makeup will go on like butter, and your skin care products will be more effective since they can absorb more fully.
Ready to do this? Here are the simple steps:
- Cleanse with a gentle cleanser like MILK CLEANSER or La Roche-Posey Toleraine. Dry your face completely.
- The experts recommend dermaplaning on dry skin. Try it dry first, but if you must use something to help the facial razor glide, try a small amount of a facial oil or gel. THIS OIL is may favorite for general skincare so I always have some on hand…
- Pull the skin taut as you use the razor.
- Rinse your face with warm water and apply a gentle moisturizer. Of course I’m obsessed with MILK CREAM.
- Clean your facial razor with alcohol and let dry.
- Stay away from any other exfoliation or harsh skin care for a few days to keep your skin happy and not irritated.
Last thing- if the thought of razors on your face freaks you out, you can always use the FINISHING TOUCH, which some of my fellow Seint Artists love. Keep in mind, you won’t see as many of the benefits from exfoliating, but it will take care of the peach fuzz.
